Dear Friends,

The second candidate coming to town for the superintendent's position is Frederick Morton who is an Assistant Superintendent near Buffalo. He will meet informally with teachers on Tuesday, May 27th, in the School Board Office from 4:15-5pm. He will meet with PTA leaders and parents on Wednesday, May 28th, in the School Board Office from 2-2:30pm. And he will meet with the general public on Wednesday evening at 7:30pm in the County Courthouse, Courtroom B on the 3rd floor. Please take advantage of these important opportunities.

There are now only a few weeks left to file signatures to be a candidate for school board elections in the fall. Elections will be held for districts A, C, and D. So far no one has announced candidacy for any of these seats. Mary Beth Dunkenberger has said she will not run in C; Barry Worth has said he will seek the Republican nomination for Supervisor in D, and so expects not to be running for school board. Annette Perkins has not publicly stated her plans in A. It is essential that we have good candidates in these districts.

I hope this e-mail newsletter has given you a sense of what is involved in being on the board--and I hope that has not scared off everybody. Although it has been time consuming and frustrating in many ways, I am glad I am on the board, and have found it to be a valuable experience. Please consider serving the community in this important way.

-Jim Klagge.
