General Property Taxes are projected to provide about $1.3 million in additional revenues to the County in 1996-97. Other taxes, fees and fines should provide another $200,000. Of this additional tax revenue of $1.5 million, $70,000, or 4.67% is being allocated to schools. This leaving $1.43 million for other issues.

The tax rate passed is a 1 cent increase versus the 6 cent increase which was advertised. The Board passed a no increase tax rate but reconsidered when it was revealed that would actually cut the local revenues provided schools by $148,000.

We did not record the votes but believe it went as follows: Those voting for no increase were Stewart, Long, Jablonski and Rush. When the vote was retaken at the final 1 cent increase those voting in favor were Biggs, Moore, Gorman and Long. Biggs, Moore and Gorman were in favor of 2 cents and Biggs and Moore favored the advertised six cents. Stewart, Jablonski and Rush held to no increase.
